Buena Vista Historic Homes
Buena Vista, whose story of coming about is often compared to Miami's, was founded before the turn of the 19th century. The town was once inhabited by Miami's elite. Wealthy locals constructed homes that included baroque Mediterranean courtyards that were surrounded by mango and avocado groves. Each house was designed with it's own style: Mediterranean Revival, Masonry Vernacular, and Art Deco. These Buena Vista homes were built meticulously and with pizzaz. In the late 1960s, the construction of I-95 prompted the decline of Buena Vista. Today, because of Wynwood, the design district, and Midtown, Buena Vista has made a comeback and is booming!
